“In my heart, the tobacco, once it’s lit, the smoke is going to take my message to the Creator for whatever my vows are.”
“In my heart, the tobacco, once it’s lit, the smoke is going to take my message to the Creator for whatever my vows are.”
Tobacco is one of the four sacred medicines. Indigenous cultures have used tobacco in ceremony and prayer since time immemorial.
When used in a good way, tobacco connects us to the spirit world, allowing us to offer our prayers to the Creator. It is often gifted to Elders as a sign of respect when seeking their wisdom or guidance.
At the heart of keeping tobacco sacred is the respect for teachings passed down through Elders.
